A View From The Buzz Bar

On the off chance that it’s not pouring rain or way too hot in the city — a depressingly frequent occurrence this summer— you’ll want to act quickly and enjoy the nice weather by dining al fresco. But since this is New York, “outdoor seating” can mean that you’re at a table that overlooks traffic and you’re breathing in fumes and shouting over honking just for the sake of getting some fresh air. That doesn’t have to be the case.  It should be pleasant and relaxing to sit outside in the summertime, and the good news is that there is a wonderful escape from the city (in the city) that is nestled right under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Pier in front of The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory – The Buzz Bar.

This adorable tented escape (adorned with fire engine red tables & chairs, and gorgeous magnolia trees) has to be the cutest spot in NYC to grab a beer or glass of wine or the most delicious “Best’s” hot dog or an ice cream or one of their infamous “Buzzitos” (a delicious organic flour tortilla stuffed with seared chicken breast, fire roasted Poblano peppers, red peppers, fresh home grown herbs (from their garden in Red Hook,) pepper jack cheese, spanish onions & Encarnacion’s secret spice.  There is also a healthier vegetarian option prepared with seasonal farm fresh vegetables. This delicious delight is just the perfect size to hold with one hand while you take some Instagram shots of the breathtaking views of the Manhattan Skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. The Buzzitos are so savory, it is hard to eat just one!  And, of course, The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory ice cream is hands down the most delicious ice cream ever made!

The atmosphere under the tent is hip and casual and DOGS ARE WELCOME!  Ryleigh found a home for the summer…..and he managed to steal a scoop of vanilla, much to the dismay of the hoards of hungry tourists waiting on the enormous lines to get some sweet treats for themselves.

The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory offers simple, pure and delicious ice cream.

For fun – this evening, The Buzz Bar was rocking with some funky bluegrass rock music courtesy of The East End Opry which moved west for the summer and has become “Wednesday Night Live.” You can see them perform from 6:00pm to 8:00pm every Wednesday night through Labor Day.  Hanging out at The Buzz Bar is an absolute must.

(Incidentally and quite by accident, my outfit matched the sky!)
