There is as much serious attitude behind The Greene Door shades as there is casual formality. Sunglasses are a necessity, for sure. As a fashion accessory, (not unlike a wristwatch) they are as useful as they are timeless. Nary a person as far as the eye can see (HA!) are not wearing sunglasses – if not just to express individuality – a way of swell living, a trendy nuance, a daunting desire just to look cool. And lets face it, even on the days when cool simply is not going to happen, no one will notice anyway, will they? Not at all – they will be hiding in the shade behind their own sunnies.
Wholesome classic lenses like Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers continue to prevail amongst the tortoise shell set and those newcomers trying to achieve a traditional, smart look. Ray Bans flash lenses and Illesteva’s warm amber acetate mirrored frames recently burst on the scene with a little preppy joie de vivre – a ‘throw caution to the wind’ welcome to pop culture, but still keeping within the time-honored style of the prep set. Kate Spade introduced fine gray radiant lenses and Karen Walker took her slowpoke shell and made it a game changer – Karen went big, Kate went pink – they kept their eye on us the whole time just helping us to see the world through their rose colored glass. Dashing confidence always prevails, (and usually sells well) even when the lights turn dim.
A few suggested requirements to amp up the eye gear and get your chic on – take stock in darkened, leatherback, tinted, tort and gold, silver mirrored, blue polarized, green lenses, 100% UV protected spectacles and make certain that the pair you wear, gets high ratings in the sun glare department. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
