If there is anything that living on the ocean has taught me, it is that we are tiny and powerless in the face of something as untamed as Nature, and that despite our best efforts to steer her into submission, we can never fully engineer the wild out of her wildness. I think it is safe to say that Sandy was one of those wild rides. That powerhouse of a storm was as unconscionable in its size and velocity and the damage it caused. Now, nearly three years later, there is real calm after the storm and beauty is intact.
And on a perfect Fall Day, walking along the ocean with my pretty sidekick, Ryleigh by my side – there is simply no place like home.
