Scandalous Suiting

If you’re a fan of “Scandal” – and, more specifically, a fan of the amazing wardrobe hanging in Olivia Pope’s closet – consider your winter/work suiting a fait d’accompli. The star of the show, actress Kerry Washington and Lyn Paolo, the costume designer, have joined forces in non scandalous proportions again and teamed up with The Limited to re launch a winter clothing line inspired by ABC’s hit drama SCANDAL. (Season 5 will be premiering on September 21, 2015.)

“People who love the look of the show can now step into this world in a way that is affordable and accessible because not everybody can afford to have the clothes they see on the show,” Kerry Washington told Womens Wear Daily of the collaboration.

Her “Scandal” style – is comprised of smooth, simple, sleek suits, structured retro purses and a fabulous and vast collection of fashion-forward coats (she outright styled the chilly maternity set last winter.) Her look was right out of a 1960’s winterscape from a painting by Slim Aaron’s. (She once, even dipped  into the American first family mode and fashioned a Jackie O pill box hat.) The SCANDAL womens collection at The Limited has garnered quite a fan following – the mid priced womens shop sold out of the holiday collection last year really quickly. The 42-piece collection that appeared in stores in late September, are sadly, mostly gone, however a few random pieces are still available on their website – a tease, perhaps for whats to come.

It looks as though the design team will be rolling out the 5th addition of sleek power suits, and smart form fitting A line dresses before there is a chill in the air (or I dare say Salvation Army Santas donning their own holiday suiting.) Although Kerry Washington will not solely wear Limited on the show, she will continue the collaboration with the brand of classic American TV style that she and Paolo designed. Not exclusively searching for a winter white petite suit on the internet one night, the internet mistakenly redirected to The Limited website,  and then this magical mod wintry suit appeared.  I had to own this “scandalous” duo.

Naturally this year’s line will be a LIMITED addition. Nevertheless, for immediate gratification and to be first in line for the look, it may be worth your while to consider adding another bookmark to your favorites! The 2016 collection is being kept under wraps for now. Needless to say, it should be very interesting to see whats to come.
